2027 Highland Ultra Kit List

Race Bag Mandatory Kit List

All items below must be worn or carried in your Race Bag on every stage. You will not be permitted to start or continue without them. These items must not be moved into your Drop Bag or Travel Bag.

Your sleeping bag and bivvy bag are mandatory safety items — if you get into difficulty in remote terrain, they let you get warm, stay protected from the weather, and await support or rescue.

Drop Bag Suggested Kit List

Use your Drop Bag for food, warm clothing and overnight items needed at Kinloch Hourn after Stages 1 and 2. Most of your race food should be packed here, with only stage food and your sealed emergency reserve carried in your Race Bag. Pack enough food for camp and for the following stages, including a mix of meals, snacks and food you know you can eat when tired. Hot water will be available, so dehydrated meals are a good option.

  • Max weight: 8kg
  • Max size: 40L
  • Must not contain mandatory Race Bag kit
  • Not accessible at Inverie after Stage 3

Travel Bag Suggested Kit List

Your Travel Bag is for pre- and post-race items — you won't access it during the race. Use it for travel-day clothing, chargers, spare warm clothing, and anything you want waiting for you when you return to Inverie after Stage 3. Stage 1 sets off from Inverie Camp, so pack an evening meal for arrival night and a breakfast for race morning here rather than carrying them in your Race Bag. After Stage 3, BTU provides lunch, dinner and breakfast the next morning, so you only need extras beyond that.

  • Left at Inverie Camp
  • Accessed before Stage 1 and after Stage 3
  • No maximum weight or size
  • Must not contain mandatory Race Bag kit
